Oikos

Oikos concept of relational evangelism.

Oikos: Faith Through Relationships

Oikos is an ancient Greek word often associated today with yogurt, but in the New Testament it refers to a household or dwelling place—and, more broadly, a person’s existing network of family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers.

This project translated that layered concept into a clear, approachable visual system. Grounded in the idea that many people encounter faith through relationships they already have, the design presents evangelism as a personal expression of story, presence, and everyday connection rather than a pressured confrontation.

A Venn diagram became the central visual device, using overlapping circles to represent the spaces people inhabit and the relationships already within reach. At the intersection, a cross reinforces Christ as the center of those connections. The supporting framework, known as the “4 I’s,” guides the relational approach:

• Intercede: Pray for people by name

• Invest: Share meaningful, everyday time together

• Influence: Model and communicate biblical truth

• Invite: Welcome others to follow Jesus or connect with a church community

The final piece makes an abstract spiritual and relational principle easy to understand at a glance, while creating a memorable visual reminder of faith shared through genuine human connection.
